 es. Each year\, the NIH Clinical Center sponsors Rare Disease Day at NIH a
 s part of this global observance. Rare Disease Day at NIH aims to raise aw
 areness about rare diseases\, the people they affect\, and NIH research co
 llaborations underway to address scientific challenges and to advance new 
 treatments.\n\nThe goals of Rare Disease Day at NIH are to:\n\n 	Demonstra
 te the NIH commitment to helping people with rare diseases through researc
 h.\n 	Highlight NIH-supported rare diseases research and the development o
 f diagnostics and treatments.\n 	Initiate a mutually beneficial dialogue a
 mong public and private researchers\, patients\, patient advocates and pol
 icymakers.\n 	Exchange the latest rare diseases information with stakehold
 ers to advance research and therapeutic efforts.\n 	Put a face on rare dis
 eases by sharing stories of patients\, their families and their communitie
 s\n\nThe event features interactive panel discussions\, rare stories throu
 gh TED-style talks and more.\n\nThe event is free and open to the public\,
  including patients\, patient advocates\, health care providers\, research
