Rare Cancer Day Webinar

On Thursday, September 30, FCF leadership moderated a Rare Cancer Day webinar sponsored by the National Organization for Rare Disorders’ (NORD) Rare Cancer Coalition. This 45-minute webinar, “Rare Cancers: Breaking Down Barriers to Diagnosis, Treatment and Research“, discusses rare cancer challenges and offers insights to assist those who are impacted.

Topics covered include the challenges rare cancer patients face accessing appropriate screenings, effective therapies, and research opportunities, plus the difficulties clinicians and researchers encounter because of limited access to diagnostic tools, sparse clinical study data and small research populations. Panelists featured in the webinar included:

  • Margarita Raygada, PhD  – Research Geneticist and Oncology Genetic Counselor, National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute
  • Simron Singh, MD, MPH – Medical Oncologist, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center
  • Robert Taylor – Patient Advocate, Life Raft Group and SWOG Cancer Research Network.

A recording of the event is viewable below.
