A Rare Cancer Day message

The Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation (FCF) kicks off Rare Cancer Day with a special video created by the fibrolamellar community to commemorate the event. In this video, fibrolamellar patients and caregivers share perspectives on their rare cancer fight and talk about how everyone can help improve the outlook of those facing a rare cancer diagnosis.

Spearheaded by the National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD) Rare Cancer Coalition, Rare Cancer Day is observed on September 30 each year to highlight the challenges facing rare cancer patients and the need for greater research funding. The hope is that increased attention on rare cancers will increase the interest level of researchers, motivate potential funders, and accelerate the development of effective treatments. Kurt Losert, CEO of the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation states, “With increased awareness of rare diseases and focused investment, we can and will find effective treatments for rare cancers like fibrolamellar. As members of our fibrolamellar community say in this new video — we may be rare, but we matter too!”

FCF would like to thank Destiny and Bill Haggett and the rest of the Patient & Caregiver Advisory Board for their leadership in creating and sharing this video!
