World Cancer Day is a day to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), its primary goal is to support collaborative efforts to significantly reduce the illness and death caused by cancer.
The UICC’s theme for World Cancer Day 2024 is “Close the Care Gap.” Currently, cancer care reflects many of the inequalities and inequities of our world. Unfortunately, many cannot access quality cancer care, despite rapid advancements in medical technology.
Like many cancer research and advocacy organizations, FCF supports efforts to reduce the barriers that stand in the way of quality cancer care for all. While our primary focus is on supporting and driving research that can help identify more effective treatments for FLC, our programs and efforts will hopefully create a path to better care for everyone who is impacted by this terrible disease.
