FCF Press Release on Rare Disease Day
Tuesday October 1, 2019 is Rare Cancer Day. The event this year is especially important because at the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation (FCF) we are celebrating ten years of bringing awareness to this disease. We are proud to have contributed nearly $8 million to researching cures and treatments for this horrific disease. Despite the fact that 25% of all cancer diagnoses are considered rare, they are extremely underfunded. The Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation along with the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) are making great efforts to bring attention to rare cancers and to use this day as an opportunity to unify all voices in hope of a cure. Fibrolamellar Cancer is so devastating because it is a fast acting and very aggressive form of liver cancer that primarily affects teens and young adults. There is currently no cure and no standard treatment for the disease, but we are looking for one!
