Mercy Medical Angels is a nonprofit organization that provides free transportation assistance to people who need to travel for medical care but cannot afford it. They offer three types of transportation – ground transportation, private pilot flights, and commercial airline assistance. Their team will determine the best option for you based on your distance, medical needs, timeline and availability. Ground transportation assistance includes gas cards, Uber/Lyft vouchers and bus and train tickets. Private pilot flights arranged through through their Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic are provided by volunteer pilots serving 11 states: Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, Delaware, Michigan, Ohio and Washington, DC. Commercial airline flights are offered for trips over 475 miles and are booked on major airlines.
