This virtual meeting, hosted by Cancer Support Community, is meant to raise awareness of the impact of cancer cachexia – a condition that causes drastic unintentional weight loss associated with a cancer diagnosis or during treatment. This meeting will be focused on listening to and learning from patient and caregiver perspectives on living with cancer cachexia.
Externally-led patient-focused drug development meetings like this are based on a process established by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They give key stakeholders in the drug development process an opportunity to hear directly from disease patients about the symptoms that concern them the most, the impact of the disease on their lives, and their experiences with current treatments. This input can inform FDA’s decisions and oversight both during drug development and during their review of a marketing application for a new drug.
Any patients or caregivers who have an interest in this topic and/or have experienced unintended weight loss associated with their cancer diagnosis are encouraged to attend.
